Our mission: To mature students in Christ as we integrate faith and reason through classical Christian education. As a classical Christian school, we are quite different from other schools. We strongly encourage you to investigate the classical Christian difference for yourself and see the impact our style of education can have on your child for the rest of his or her life. The goal of a Trinity education is formation, not merely information. We seek to work in harmony with the family, helping prepare young people to think with depth, believe with courage, and serve with compassion. Contact Us today to see if our school is a good fit for your family. We would love to meet you!
We are Southeast Idaho's regional classical Christian school. We are located in American Falls, Idaho. We are enrolling students for grades K-12 for the 2024-2025 school year. We are an evangelical protestant Christian school, in membership with the Association of Classical Christian Schools. Visitors are welcome.
Modern education seeks to train for a job or a career. Classical Christian education prepares students to be excellent learners, rigorous thinkers, and effective doers. Classical Christian education is about who we become, not what we know.
What is the goal of education? Many schools believe it is about training for a specific vocation. We believe that true education is about forming the soul. As you consider how to educate your child, think about how this choice will influence what your child believes and loves. Who do you want your child to be, not just when they’re 18, but when they are 30, 40, and 50 years old? The goal of classical Christian education is formation, not merely information. We seek to work in harmony with the family, helping to prepare young people to think with depth, believe with courage, and serve with compassion. By analyzing the great ideas of Western civilization and holding them to the light of Scripture, classical Christian students learn wisdom and virtue. Teaching for wisdom and virtue, rather than knowledge alone, alters the focus of education to who we become, not what we know.
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.-
Modern education has become focused on teaching to the test – training students to simply memorize information. Classical Christian education instead cultivates thinking, articulate students who are able to reason well, work hard, and communicate clearly and persuasively. Classical Christian students learn in a completely different way — by asking questions, reading original texts, and using logic to reach educated conclusions. A classical Christian education also helps students link subjects together. Although your child’s day will be divided into subject-based classes, classical teachers make clear connections between the Bible and history, history and art, art and philosophy, philosophy and culture, culture and the sciences, and so forth. Your child will learn the “big ideas” that have been proposed throughout history and see not only how they have influenced our culture but how to view them in light of God’s Word.
We use the Bible as our foundation and standard of Truth in every subject in a student’s day. God is not confined to one aspect of life, and He should not be confined to a Bible class. Watch the video to understand the difference between a Christian school and a classical Christian school.
Service to others is a theme reinforced throughout the school—whether in class, on the playground, or at a community service event. As each child grows in the knowledge of his or her purpose as a servant of Christ, opportunities abound and teachers gently guide students to lay aside their own desires and serve their fellow man—whether it’s a classmate who is having a bad day, or a parent who needs a little extra help at home. Ultimately, a pattern of dying to self emerges even though the culture around them says the opposite.
Classical education follows the Trivium, a term used to describe the learning stages of children. By adapting the teaching method to each stage, the Trivium develops a knowledgeable, thinking, and articulate student. The three stages represented in the Trivium are Grammar (grades K-5), Logic (grades 6-9), and Rhetoric (grades 10 – 12).
Pre-Polly (K-2) and Grammar Stage – Grades K-5
Everyone loves to do what they are good at! During the Grammar phase, children are eager to memorize and we challenge them with facts that span all subjects from Bible to history to science. We use songs, chants, and rhymes to help children enjoy the learning experience. These years build a solid framework of knowledge that will serve them for life.
The Logic Stage – Grades 6-8
As your child approaches the middle school years, you may notice a new independence and a persistent question...“Why?” This point in your child's development is the perfect opportunity to train him or her in the art of civil discourse. By learning logic and the art of reason and debate, your child will know how to stand strong in the faith and engage others in a loving way.
The Rhetoric Stage – Grades 9-12
Modern educational methods tend to stay the same throughout a child's K-12 years — memorize some information then reproduce it to pass a test. Classical education changes to match your child's learning stage. In high school, students become concerned with what others think of them. This is a golden opportunity to infuse wisdom and eloquence.
We’re all students
Everyone at Trinity Classical Christian School has the same occupation. We’re students pursuing Truth. Learning is more interesting when you ask tougher questions. When you seek deeper Truth. When you engage with your friends on things that matter.
Respect
You’re respected here. Our building, our challenging curriculum, and our environment are designed for one thing– excellent learning to the glory of God. Not learning stuff simply to repeat on a test and jump through hoops, but ideas from thinkers who have steered the course of human history. We pursue that which will make a difference in our world– meaningful judgments about how things should be, not how they are.
Faith
Every thought is taken captive to Christ. No one will try to stop you at an artificial line between your faith and the universe in which you live. This continuous integration of every subject with Christian Truth presents an environment where you wrestle with and come to know the Truth of Christ deeply.
Order
Here, you can learn without competing for attention or trying to fit in. Our uniforms keep it simple. Our high standards keep things focused. Our friendly environment keeps it joyful.
A community where we love what God loves
The fruits of the spirit mean that you’ll be welcomed into our family. We’re a small community, so there can be occasional stress, but it’s more like a family with brothers and sisters than a concrete-block institution. We like it that way and we hope you will too.

Grammar School 1st Form Homeroom
BA in Elementary Education from Southern Nazarene University. MA in Literacy from Washington State University. Shelly taught in the public school 3rd grade and 1st grade in Richland, Washington.
Shelly homeschooled her three daughters in the classical model for one year through Classical Conversations, and the family fell in love with classical Christian education. It is so much more than just learning ABC and 123. It's all about training a child's heart toward what is true, good and beautiful. The model recovers the lost tools whereby the students learn to think with logic and wisdom for themselves. This model follows the natural development of a child's nature, so young children learn with their whole bodies (five senses). Having taught in the public schools, Shelly loves being able to openly point her students to God in all things.
Shelly was born in Florida and has lived in seven states. She married Jon Schutte sixteen years ago. They have three daughters. The family moved to American Falls from Washington state seven years ago. Shelly enjoys gardening and taking care of the family’s hobby farm filled with horses, cows, goats, and chickens. In the winter, you will find her skiing or curled up with a book by the fireplace.

and Latin
B.A. in English with a Linguistics emphasis, Boise State University (1999). Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics from the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (2000). Jennifer worked for Wycliffe Bible Translators for fifteen years, including spending a total of six years in Indonesia. She has studied French, German, ancient Greek, Indonesian, Latin, Mandarin, Spanish, and a minority language of Indonesia called Bahasa Siang.
When Jennifer had children, she wanted to give them a classical education. In public school, she had received almost no education about history. Medieval and church history, for example, had been entirely skipped. She wanted better for her own children. A deep ignorance about history leaves our children vulnerable to shallow and deceptive arguments that portray universal human ills as the fault of Christianity, and that can only work on someone who knows nothing about history.
Classical education is a challenge for a home schooler, but Jennifer did her best, selecting a curriculum that teaches history chronologically, and teaching her sons several years of Latin. She never imagined the opportunity to send any of her children to a classical Christian school, and is thrilled to be involved in TCCS as a teacher and a parent. Even in the first year, she has seen how a group of dedicated parents and teachers in a school setting can provide a more thorough classical education than one person alone at home.
Jennifer and her husband, Monte, have three sons, whom they moved to Idaho in 2019. They love the beautiful Western landscapes. Jennifer is an avid reader, and is also a novelist, with three published novels. She knits and keeps chickens. She is a landscape painter and did all the covers for her own books.

Victoria has a passion for teaching and a love for math. She began tutoring others in math while still in high school. She did undergrad work as a math major at Idaho State University, including taking Calculus I and II and Intro to Probability. While at ISU, she tutored math in a variety of settings including a classroom-type setting. In 2012, she began work as a private tutor for students ranging from sixth grade to college algebra. Her eleven years of experience have exposed her to a huge variety of curricula and learning types.
Despite her extensive experience tutoring math, Victoria’s first exposure to classical Christian education was when she was asked to teach at TCCS. She loves that classical Christian education teaches students how every subject circles back to God, "because by Him were created all things, the things in the heavens and the things upon the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones, or lordships, or principalities, or authorities: all things have been created by Him and for Him." Colossians 1:16 (Darby).
Victoria also loves how classical education guides students to think logically so they can develop great problem-solving skills.
Victoria was born and raised in Aberdeen. She now lives there with her husband of thirteen years and their two children, a fourth grade boy and a first grade girl. The family loves to spend time outdoors together, camping, biking, skiing, riding side-by-sides, and reading.

Julie attended Idaho State University and has eight years of experience home schooling, including four years teaching at Classical Conversations.
Julie was first introduced to classical education through her experience teaching in Classical Conversations. She loves classical Christian education because we are able to teach all subjects with reference to God: His marvelous handiwork, His order in creation, His complexity. Classical education allows us to make connections between the various subjects in the curriculum, and create a more rounded understanding of the subject we are studying. Through classical education, students learn how to learn. This is such a valuable life skill!
Julie was born in Canada, but grew up in American Falls, Idaho. She married her wonderful husband, Brian, in 2007. He is a teacher and has been teaching for more than twenty years. Last year, the Biedas moved from Pocatello to American Falls, and have been renovating a nine-acre derelict farm. They have a daughter and a son, both of whom attend TCCS. As a family, they love to travel, take hikes, bike, and read good books.

Ms. Boese has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and Violin Performance from the University of North Dakota. She also has a Master's Degree in Music Education with a Kodály Specialization from Colorado State University. Amy holds a K-12 music licensure in the state of Idaho. Her experience includes eleven years of teaching middle and high school orchestra. Five of those years were spent in public schools, and six were spent at the International Community School in Bangkok, Thailand, a Christian international school.
Amy has friends who homeschool using classical Christian education. When she looked into it, she was impressed by the thoroughness and depth of the curriculum. What Amy particularly likes about classical Christian education is that it teaches students how to think and reason, and to test information against Scripture. She also, naturally, loves that it values the arts and beauty because God is a creative creator, and we reflect that aspect of Him as image-bearers.
Amy grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, snowshoeing, playing card games, and cooking.
